What to Do When an Orchid Suffers from Root Rot

Whenan orchidsuffers from root rot, its ability to absorb and transport water and nutrients is greatly reduced, and the pathogens will also spread along the vascular tissue to the entire plant, hindering vegetative growth and reproductive growth, and may even cause the plant to die. For the treatment oforchidroot rot, the focus should be on prevention. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Strictly disinfect seedlings;the growingmedium should be relatively coarse and must be disinfected; potting should follow standard practice;the growingcontainer should be tall with many holes.

2. Water and fertilize at the right time and in the right amount; provide timely and effective insulation against cold and cooling and moisture retention, and maintain air circulation; provide nutrients at the right time and in a reasonable way.

3. Boost immunity. In spring, summer and autumn each year, spray once with a 1000-1500 times diluted aspirin solution.

4. Treat promptly. When black rot, soft rot, southern blight, bacterial wilt and other diseases are found on the leaves, promptly spray and water the roots with fungicides such as tebuconazole, carbendazim, dexon, copper hydroxide, streptomycin, phosethyl-Al, chloramphenicol and penicillin, once a week, at a concentration of 700-1000 times dilution; the concentration of phosethyl-Al, chloramphenicol and penicillin is 3000 times dilution.
