Recently, it was learned from the White Feather Broiler Alliance of the Poultry Industry Branch of the China Animal Agriculture Association (abbreviated as the China White Feather Broiler Alliance) that in 2013 China's total chicken meat exports reached 430,600 tons, an increase of 1.91% over 2012. This year chicken meat exports are expected to continue growing, and white feather chicken meat exports are expected to break through 450,000 tons. It is reported that China's chicken meat, thanks to its high quality and low price, is being shared by 52 countries and regions around the world, including Asia, Europe and the Middle East, with Japan, Hong Kong, China and Malaysia becoming the top three destinations for China's chicken meat exports.

Gong Guifen, secretary-general of the Poultry Industry Branch of the China Animal Agriculture Association, analysed that the reason China's chicken meat continues to be exported in large quantities is mainly that, first, China is a major producer of pork, beef and mutton, but not a strong one, and its export capacity is relatively weak while meeting domestic market demand; second, compared with chicken meat, pork, beef and mutton have long production cycles, while chicken meat, with its short production cycle and easily controlled costs, clearly has obvious advantages; third, in terms of meat safety and quality control, chicken meat has more advantages. At present, China has a large number of leading Chinese large-scale broiler industrialisation enterprises such as Dacheng, CP and Huadu, which after decades of effort have established a solid food safety control system and firmly grasped the international market; fourth, the trade barriers set up between countries to protect their own meat production shut China's pork, beef and mutton out, but the indispensability of Chinese chicken meat in Asian and Middle Eastern markets broke through these barriers.

“The reason Chinese chicken meat can be exported to more than 50 countries is that the quality control of China's chicken farming industry is a closed loop.” said Li Jinghui, secretary-general of the China White Feather Broiler Alliance. The biggest characteristic of Chinese chicken meat export enterprises is that they basically possess a complete industrial chain from breeding eggs, hatching, feed production, vaccine production and slaughtering to cooked food processing and seasoning production, and the broiler industry builds a closed loop of controllable quality and safety within the enterprise.

It is understood that the chicken farming enterprises under the China White Feather Broiler Alliance have basically established a complete set of strict breeding biosecurity systems, effectively preventing various risks from aspects such as the siting of farms, plant layout and feeding management, and safeguarding the health of the flocks. At the same time, from chick production to commercial broiler rearing and slaughtering, every stage strictly implements the “five unifications” management model: unified supply of chicks, unified supply of feed, unified epidemic prevention and disinfection, unified use of drugs, and unified purchasing and slaughtering, making chicken meat safer and more reliable.
