Ministry of Agriculture to Launch Family Farm Monitoring to Promote Regulated and Orderly Development
The Ministry of Agriculture plans to launch monitoring of family farm development this year. By establishing a dynamic monitoring and management system for family farms, it will produce annual monitoring reports on family farm development, provide a basis for family farm development, offer reference for the formulation of related support policies, and promote the regulated and orderly development of family farms.
Pan Xianzheng, head of the General Station of Rural Economic Management and deputy director of the Department of Rural Economic Management of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the monitoring work is mainly the responsibility of the Department of Rural Economic Management of the Ministry of Agriculture, with the specific work entrusted to the Rural Development Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. At present, the central government finance authorities have allocated special funds for carrying out monitoring of family farm development. This monitoring will select about 3,000 family farms as monitoring targets in 30 provinces nationwide (excluding Tibet), and data related to the daily operation of family farms will be included in the monitoring and regularly entered into the system.
At the national family farm work training class held in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, Du Zhixiong, deputy director of the Rural Development Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that the monitoring data will be collected in the form of questionnaires, covering nearly 100 questions on the basic situation of family farms, labor force, cultivated land and production, and daily management.
The monitoring will adopt a combination of regular statistics and typical surveys. The Rural Development Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will develop monitoring software to conduct monitoring and statistics on family farm operations and form an annual report on family farm development on a yearly basis. In family farm research, the Department of Rural Economic Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Rural Development Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will focus on sample surveys of family farms included in the monitoring scope.
