Ministry of Agriculture Autumn Grain Pest and Disease Control Supervision Teams Sent to 23 Major Producing Provinces
The bulk of the effort to secure a bumper grain harvest for the whole year lies in autumn grain, and the key lies in disaster prevention and mitigation. To ensure that the action to prevent disease and control pests and secure an autumn grain bumper harvest is carried out effectively, the Ministry of Agriculture recently dispatched another 10 supervision teams to carry out a two-month supervision and guidance activity in 23 key autumn grain producing provinces and regions. The supervision focuses on the monitoring and early warning, technical guidance and emergency control of major pests and diseases of autumn grain crops, as well as the integrated advancement of specialized unified pest control and green control, to ensure that pest and disease control measures are implemented in place. At the same time, 100 plant protection experts were organized to go deep into areas where major pests and diseases of autumn grain crops occur severely, going to fields and the front lines of production to conduct on-site technical training and guidance on safe pesticide use, ensuring that technical measures are applied in the fields.
August to September is an important period for autumn grain production, and also a critical period for the occurrence and control of various pests and diseases. According to monitoring by the national crop pest and disease forecasting network, the occurrence of major pests and diseases of autumn grain crops is more severe than in normal years and last year. In particular, affected by frequent severe convective weather and uneven rainfall distribution, the rice “two migrations” pests in southern rice regions show a major outbreak trend, and the epidemic risk of ear neck blast in northeastern rice regions and potato late blight in North China and Northwest China has increased significantly, posing a serious threat to the safety of autumn grain production.
⟦NL⟩ It is understood that this year the Ministry of Agriculture organized and carried out the action to prevent disease and control pests and secure an autumn grain bumper harvest, requiring all localities to aim at disease prevention and pest control, maintaining production and increasing income, and reducing losses and increasing efficiency, with monitoring and early warning, unified pest control, green control and safe pesticide use as the focus, to widely mobilize and motivate, strengthen service guidance, implement key measures, carry out emergency control in a timely manner, vigorously promote specialized unified pest control, resolutely curb pest and disease outbreaks and epidemics, and make every effort to secure an autumn grain bumper harvest.
