How to protect the autumn grain harvest? The Ministry of Agriculture calls for scientific drought relief in Northeast China

Beijing, August 14 (Reporter Qiao Jinliang): The Ministry of Agriculture today held a video consultation meeting on drought relief and autumn harvest protection in Northeast China, analyzing and assessing the development trend of the drought, arranging drought relief and autumn harvest protection work, and calling for vigorous efforts to advance scientific drought relief and go all out to secure a bumper autumn grain harvest.

Vice Minister of Agriculture Yu Xinrong said that the current task of drought relief and autumn harvest protection in Northeast China is extremely urgent. He stressed that all localities should strive to expand the irrigated area. They should do a good job in machinery allocation, power dispatch and material transport to support drought-affected areas in carrying out drought relief work. They should strengthen communication with water conservancy departments and properly dispatch water sources from rivers and reservoirs. They should take effective measures to divert more water, lift more water and store more water, and increase surface water sources.
