Agricultural science and technology films go to the countryside, farmers look forward to more
In recent years, in order to help farmer brothers shake off poverty and become prosperous as early as possible, governments at all levels have increased investment in intellectual resources, regularly organizing “science and technology caravans”, “science and technology film festivals”, “agricultural science think tanks” and “science popularization teams” to travel to “old revolutionary base areas, ethnic minority areas, border areas and poverty-stricken areas” to carry out mobile science and technology poverty alleviation, and have achieved remarkable results. Advanced models of “learning agricultural science and using agricultural science” in the vast countryside have sprung up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain, creating one opportunity after another for farmers to become prosperous. However, after the “science popularization caravan” left, bundles of science and technology books and materials were often shelved and forgotten, and the “science and technology fever” that had just been stirred up cooled down again.
According to newspaper reports, the central government attaches great importance to science and technology poverty alleviation. The State Science and Technology Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture invest about 5 million yuan RMB each year in the filming of agricultural science and technology films, and a new agricultural science and technology film is released every half month. Even so, most of what science and education film teams currently organize and show in the countryside are feature films, while the agricultural science and technology films that the vast number of farmers like to watch, which combine education with entertainment, are very few and simply cannot meet the needs of farmer friends to learn technology and knowledge.
Recalling the 1960s and 1970s, whenever a film team went to the countryside to show films, the first thing shown as an added feature was agricultural science and technology films, such as “How to Eliminate Cutworms”, “How to Prevent and Control Black Smut of the Three Wheats” and “A Discussion of Stable and High Yields in Corn”. There were also agricultural science and education series reports, such as “A Guide to Sericulture”, which systematically reported the silkworm from the silkworm egg stage to spinning silk, and filmed in detail the whole process of “the spring silkworm spins silk until death”, explaining which stage is prone to disease and how to prevent and control it in vivid detail. The above films were truly rare and good films that farmer brothers loved to see and hear. The showing of these science and technology films also played a positive role in promoting the great practice of scientific farming at that time and in changing the poor and backward face of the countryside.
⟦NL> To develop modern agriculture, science and technology must take the lead, as it represents the fundamental interests of the vast number of farmers. Without the popularization of agricultural technology, there would be no rapid changes in the countryside today, and it would be impossible to continue advancing on the road to moderate prosperity. Agricultural science and technology films have both pictures and sound, and the way they teach knowledge is easier for people to understand and accept than books. They are an easy-to-understand training method whose role cannot be replaced.
China's agricultural science started relatively late and still lags behind developed countries, so we farmer brothers earnestly hope that relevant departments such as agricultural departments, science and technology departments and film distribution departments will organize more agricultural science and technology films to go to the countryside and show them at appropriate times. We suggest that our rural film teams must add agricultural science and technology films when showing the main feature, so as to satisfy farmers' thirst for knowledge, let them master more agricultural scientific knowledge, and add wings of takeoff to the rapid development of agricultural modernization.
