Cymbidium goeringii: Flowers, flower buds, leaf buds and plant form of Wumeng Mudan

Wumeng Mudan,Cymbidium goeringiia rare flower, discovered in the wild in Bijie, Guizhou in 1995. This rare flower has semi-soft drooping leaves; the leaf bases are held tightly upright and the upper parts arch outward in a bow shape. The leaves are 250 mm long and 8 mm wide, thick and glutinous in texture, with a V-shaped cross-section. Weak plants have only three to four leaves, while strong plants have five leaves. The outer three petals of this rare flower are plain and unremarkable, bamboo-leaf-shaped petals, pale green with a purple blush, either floating xxx or merely curled. However, the column has degenerated and become flat, and all the petal-like lips have become labella, up to nine of them, opening facing upward, with vivid V-shaped crimson stripes, extremely gorgeous, with a clear, pure and distant fragrance, making it aCymbidium goeringiirare flower treasure. Orchid enthusiasts in Bijie, based on the flower-openingof this rare flower, vividly likened this rare flower to a "corn flower", that is, like popcorn exploded from corn kernels in a heating expansion machine.
