Seed production bases to undergo special inspection by the Ministry of Agriculture

On August 18, the reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture that, in order to strengthen source-level governance of the seed market and severely crack down on illegal acts such as unlicensed production at seed production bases and variety counterfeit-label infringement, the Ministry of Agriculture is scheduled to launch a special inspection campaign of hybrid corn and hybrid rice seed production bases starting in late August.

The inspection contents include the qualifications of seed production enterprises, such as whether the enterprise licenses and certificates are complete and whether the qualifications meet the requirements. Enterprise production conditions will also be verified. For example, whether the varieties and locations produced by the enterprise are consistent with the items stated in the license, and whether the seed production area is consistent with the production information submitted. In addition, the authenticity of varieties in seed production fields and the processing, transfer and transport links will also be inspected.

It is understood that this campaign adopts a combination of self-inspection by relevant provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and spot checks by the Ministry of Agriculture.
