Rise and Fall of the National Agricultural Products Wholesale Price Index on August 21, 2014

According to monitoring by the Ministry of Agriculture, on August 21 the “National Agricultural Products Wholesale Price Index” was 209.43, down 0.18 points from yesterday, of which the “shopping basket” products wholesale price index was 212.27, down 0.12 points from yesterday.

As of 14:00 today, the average price of pork at the national agricultural products wholesale market was 19.98 yuan/kg (the pork wholesale price index was 172.31), up 0.4% from yesterday;

Beef 53.91 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from yesterday;

Mutton 54.74 yuan/kg, down 0.1% from yesterday;

Eggs 11.01 yuan/kg, up 0.5% from yesterday;

Dressed chicken 15.16 yuan/kg, up 0.1% from yesterday.

The average price of the 28 key monitored vegetable varieties was 3.53 yuan/kg (the vegetable wholesale price index was 197.33), down 0.6% from yesterday;

The average price of the 7 key monitored fruit varieties was 5.77 yuan/kg, down 1.5% from yesterday.

The average price of crucian carp was 14.71 yuan/kg, down 3.4% from yesterday;

Common carp 12.26 yuan/kg, down 1.3% from yesterday;

Silver carp 6.96 yuan/kg, up 0.1% from yesterday;

Largehead hairtail 28.04 yuan/kg, up 0.5% from yesterday.

Today, among the 60 varieties of fresh and live agricultural products under key monitoring at domestic wholesale markets, the top five price increases compared with yesterday were: eggplant, carrot, banana, cauliflower and long bean, with increases of 3.2%, 2.2%, 2.0%, 2.0% and 1.9% respectively; the top five price decreases were: Kyoho grape, pineapple, watermelon, onion and crucian carp, with decreases of 5.3%, 4.3%, 3.8%, 3.4% and 3.4% respectively.
