My Views on Colorful Petals, Petal Butterflies, Stamen Butterflies, and Three-Star Butterflies
My Views on Colorful Petals, Petal Butterflies, Stamen Butterflies, and Three-Star Butterflies
Colorful petals: the petals are brightly colored but have no butterfly transformation, so they are merely a good-looking variegated-petal form. Petal butterflies: there is a butterfly patch at the base of the petals but no white-edged butterfly transformation on the petals; the degree of transformation is not high. That is to say, those with the lower half of the petal transformed and the upper half not transformed, or with the upper half transformed and the lower half not transformed, or with the left or right half transformed, are all classified as petal butterflies. Stamen butterfliesAt present, the orchid community also includes three-star butterflies within this category, collectively called stamen butterflies.
Three-star butterflies: the petals are fully transformed into a lip and have a mid-lobe, side lobes, and skirt piece identical to the lip, which is customarily called a three-star butterfly. Their quality is judged by whether the center is round and large and whether the color blocks are brilliantly colored with strong contrast.
The typical representative is Da Yuan Bao
Xuan Meng Xing Die stamen butterfly: the petals are transformed into butterflies with white edges sealed, and also have a mid-lobe, side lobes, and skirt piece, embellished with colorful markings, collectively called stamen butterflies. Their quality is judged by whether the colors are brilliantly multicolored and whether the left and right color blocks are symmetrical, etc.
Its typical representative is Hua Hu Die and Fei Cui Mao. At the orchid show these past few days, we saw butterfly flowers just like butterflies in nature, brilliantly multicolored and dancing gracefully. Their gorgeous colors and beautiful dancing postures left everyone deeply impressed.
Both Mr. Xiang Dong and Mr. Yu Bojun have their own unique views on stamen butterflies, but many orchid enthusiasts find it hard to grasp the distinction between colorful petals and stamen butterflies, so I have distinguished them according to my own understanding, so that new orchid enthusiasts can grasp them better. For the purpose of illustration, I have cited pictures from some orchid enthusiasts; please forgive me, and fellow orchid enthusiasts are welcome to criticize and correct any inappropriate points.
