China's stabilized fertilizer industry enters a period of rapid development

“This year, under the influence of many factors such as abnormal weather, natural disasters and the overall economic situation, the fertilizer industry fell into a trough, with overall sales performing poorly. However, stabilized fertilizers, relying on their own technological advantages, bucked the trend and pushed forward, with sales rising instead of falling, and some enterprises relied on stabilized fertilizers to upgrade their products and increase sales.” Ji Lanzhu, Party secretary of the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said this on August 12 at the “Second First Council Meeting of the Stabilized Fertilizer Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance” held in Shijiazhuang, Hebei.

As a new type of slow and controlled release fertilizer, stabilized fertilizers are welcomed by farmers because of their reasonable price and obvious effects. With the rapid development of the stabilized fertilizer industry, problems have also emerged behind it, such as insufficient product promotion, inadequate technical guidance, vicious competition in individual regions, and counterfeit and shoddy products squeezing out legitimate products.

In order to better guide the healthy and orderly development of the stabilized fertilizer industry, in 2010, initiated by the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, dozens of domestic stabilized fertilizer enterprises and research institutes jointly established the Stabilized Fertilizer Industry Technology Innovation Alliance. Since its establishment, the alliance has played a guiding role in technological innovation, industrial development, fertilizer registration, formulation of national standards, market supervision and other aspects.
