How Can Leisure Agriculture Be Scientifically Planned and Laid Out to Avoid Homogenization

The supreme art of war is to thwart the enemy's strategy; planning comes first. This principle applies equally to the development of leisure agriculture in our country. Today, the leisure agriculture industry is in full swing across provinces and cities, but how to correctly guide the direction of this boom so that it can become a powerful driving force for increasing farmers' incomes and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural industry still requires joint efforts from multiple parties to solve. “The supreme art of war is to thwart the enemy's strategy; planning comes first.” This principle applies equally to the development of leisure agriculture in our country. However, scientific, feasible and effective planning and design is one indispensable key link in this process.

Some local governments lack macro-level control and guidance over the development of local agricultural tourism resources, and investors lack thorough market feasibility studies and development plans, resulting in arbitrary investment decisions and blind development. This leads to identical development models for leisure agriculture projects within the same region; except for those with special scenery or cultural features, the rest are largely the same. Most parks lack overall planning and are relatively small in scale, mainly relying on individual and private capital investment, with a relatively low overall construction level, unreasonable layout, incomplete supporting facilities and a lack of innovation in service functions. These behaviors that neglect advance planning have brought about a series of negative problems such as low efficiency and severe homogenization.

Our country has a vast territory and diverse agricultural tourism resources, and only a few leisure agriculture development models are difficult to satisfy. Moreover, a uniform development model will only cause consumers to experience aesthetic fatigue and will not leave a deep impression. Therefore, the development of leisure agriculture must adhere to a scientific outlook on development, follow the principles of “adapting measures to local conditions, unified layout and ecological circulation”, take into account local natural, economic and social conditions and market demand, fully reflect local historical and cultural landscapes and natural agricultural resources, carry out targeted design, and tap distinctive tourism resources, thereby forming a distinctive brand different from other market players. And distinctiveness is a key magic weapon for remaining invincible in fierce market competition.

Scientific planning and design, on the one hand, must connect with urban development planning, urban tourism planning and new rural construction planning, scientifically plan the spatial layout of leisure agriculture enterprises, consider transportation locations and leisure agriculture resource conditions, design the density of leisure agriculture enterprises within the region, accurately select sites, grasp scale and achieve rational layout.

On the other hand, in construction, attention must be paid to project design, resources must be integrated, the theme must be distinct, functional zones must be clearly divided, landscape matching and infrastructure construction must be planned, business projects must be carefully selected, market demand must be studied, and business models must be planned. In operation, it is necessary to adhere to “taking agriculture as the foundation”, with agriculture as the basis, planting and breeding industries as the core, farmers as the main body and rural areas as the distinctive feature, and put the development of the agricultural industry and support for increasing farmers' incomes in first place, while providing better leisure agriculture products, knowledge and services for tourists. In terms of operating content, broaden thinking, take the character “agriculture” as the feature, adopt advanced agricultural production methods, pay attention to the development and protection of agricultural production capacity, promote farming culture and improve agricultural quality.
