What was the total contracted investment at the China Agricultural Products Processing Industry Investment and Trade Fair?

From September 6 to 8, the 2014 China Agricultural Products Processing Industry Investment and Trade Fair, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and hosted by the People's Government of Henan Province, was held in Zhumadian City, Henan Province. Sun Zhonghua, Chief Agronomist of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ma Youli, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Zong Jinyao, Director of the Agricultural Products Processing Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Deng Kai, Deputy Secretary of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, and Wang Tie, Vice Governor of Henan Province, attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Sun Zhonghua pointed out that in recent years, as China's total agricultural product output has continued to increase, varieties have been continuously enriched, and consumer demand has gradually upgraded, China's agricultural product processing industry has grown from small to large and developed into an important foundational and pillar industry of the national economy, becoming a new growth pole for extending the agricultural industry chain, employment chain and benefit chain, promoting farmers' employment and income growth, and advancing modern agricultural development. The China Agricultural Products Processing Industry Investment and Trade Fair has gradually enriched its content, innovated its format and expanded its functions, achieving the integration of seven aspects: “investment and trade negotiations, release of scientific and technological achievements, display of technology and equipment, matching of science enterprises with banks and enterprises, product exhibition and promotion, international exchange and cooperation, and special topic discussions”, building an important platform for cooperation and exchange for the development of the national agricultural product processing industry. In its organization, this year's China Agricultural Products Processing Fair paid greater attention to running the conference frugally, to matching science enterprises with enterprises, banks with enterprises, production with marketing, and to the display and promotion of technology and equipment, to international exchange and cooperation, and to giving play to the organizational role of industry and social forces, taking market orientation, specialization, socialization, informatization and internationalization to a new level.

With the theme of “open cooperation, green science and technology, win-win development” and with the goal of promoting the transformation of agricultural development methods, this year's Agricultural Fair was attended by delegations from 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government across the country, with more than 5,000 participating enterprises and nearly 20,000 participating business representatives, including more than 150 overseas enterprises and nearly 300 overseas business representatives, with a total exhibition area of nearly 30,000 sq m. More than 120 well-known agricultural product processing enterprises from 22 countries and regions including the United States, Russia and France exhibited. During the conference, activities were held including the release, negotiation and signing of agricultural and agricultural product processing projects, agricultural product display and trade, the release, negotiation and signing of agricultural product processing scientific research achievement transformation projects, the negotiation and signing of agricultural product production-marketing matching and procurement projects, agricultural product processing investment and financing and bank-enterprise matching, promotion of ASEAN agricultural product processing projects, display of leisure agriculture and beautiful pastoral areas and promotion of premium autumn leisure agriculture tourism routes, and awards for exhibited products. More than 60 domestic universities and research institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and China Agricultural University, and more than 20 financial institutions, including China Development Bank, CITIC Bank and Minsheng Securities, attended for negotiation and matching. A total of 187 key investment projects were signed, with a total investment of 530 hundred million yuan, including 150 projects of 100 million yuan or more. The transaction value of agricultural product procurement and trade was 48.47 hundred million yuan, 472 latest scientific research achievements were released, and 110 scientific research achievement transformation projects were signed.

The China Agricultural Products Processing Industry Investment and Trade Fair is currently the only 4A-level exhibition in China with agricultural product processing as its theme, and is also the only agricultural exhibition in Henan Province supported by the Ministry of Agriculture. It has now been successfully held 17 times.
