Preventingorchidsfrom developing black spots on their leaves Orchidshave rather delicate care requirements, and the slightest carelessness can lead to problems such as black spots on the leaves. For example, if you water from overhead, it is easy to splash potting soil onto the leaves, causing the leaves to scorch. If fertilizer solution gets on the leaves during feeding and is not immediately rinsed off with clean water, it will cause black spots and scorching on the leaves. If you do not pay attention to shading in spring and summer, the strong sun will causeorchidleaves to turn yellow and scorch. Placed in an environment with a lot of coal smoke, orchids develop black spots from the smoke damage. In addition, when orchids are affected by anthracnose, black spots often appear on the leaves.
Orchid anthracnose is especially likely to occur in the plum rain season with high temperatures and poor ventilation, or in seasons with continuous autumn rain, and sometimes it can be quite severe. Its symptoms are that at first only semicircular or circular brown spots appear on the leaves, which gradually develop into dark brown; many lesions expand into striped dark brown patches, and later the center of the lesion turns grayish white with many small black dots on it. The disease is most often seen in the middle and upper parts of the leaves. If this disease is found, the diseased leaves should be cut off. When it is first discovered, in addition to improving ventilation, you can spray 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 500 times dilution, or thiophanate wettable powder at 500 times dilution, once a week for 3 to 4 consecutive sprays, which can achieve fairly good results. To preventpests and diseasesinfection, orchids should not be placed too crowded or too densely together, and the orchid leaves should be kept from crossing over one another; a well-ventilated, well-lit environment should be maintained.
