New wheat variety Shangmai 1619 enters the national germplasm resource bank

At the 47th variety approval meeting of the Shaanxi Province Crop Variety Approval Committee, the new wheat variety “Shangmai 1619” successfully passed approval. This is the only wheat variety in the southern Shaanxi region to pass approval, and it has been listed in the national wheat germplasm resource bank.

“Shangmai 1619” is a new high-yield wheat variety bred on the basis of “Shangmai 5226” through more than 10 years of scientific and systematic selection and breeding. “Shangmai 1619” is a weak-winter, mid-to-late-maturing variety with strong disease and drought resistance, high yield and good growth. Its yield increase in regional trials was significant, and in production demonstrations it increased yield by more than 50 kg per mu. It is another new variety capable of continued high yield and can serve as a variety for creating high-yield fields with a yield of more than 1,000 jin per mu on dryland.
