Guidance on field management techniques has become an urgent need for farmers
Recently I returned to my hometown in the countryside and found that some farmer friends, when preventing and controlling crop diseases and insect pests, spray pesticides without targeting the specific problem. This not only increases production costs but also fails to achieve good control results.
Since the beginning of autumn, the weather in Wuhu City has been continuously overcast and rainy, which is extremely conducive to the breeding of various diseases and insect pests. This has had a great impact on crop growth, especially being unfavorable to rice growth. At present, it is a critical period for rice growth; single-season rice is in the grain-filling stage, and double-season rice is in the tillering and jointing stage. If the diseases and insect pests that occur cannot be effectively controlled, it will directly reduce the thousand-grain weight of single-season rice, affect the later growth of double-season rice, and bring losses to agricultural production.
Some farmer friends show great blindness and follow-the-crowd behavior in preventing and controlling diseases and insect pests. Today they hear that sheath blight needs to be prevented, so they immediately buy medicine and spray it; tomorrow they see others treating rice planthoppers and hurry to apply pesticide in the fields. Some even spray pesticide several times a day; there is even less uniformity in dosage and timing of control. When asked why, the farmers say they are not at ease, and they just follow what others apply. Anyway, "too much salt does not spoil the dish." What they do not realize is that failing to apply the right medicine for the problem or using too large a dosage will not only fail to achieve control results, but may instead cause pesticide damage to crops.
As the saying goes, if people neglect the land for a moment, the land will neglect people for a year. It is hoped that agricultural technicians will go deep into the fields, do a good job in disease and insect pest forecasting, guide farmers in preventing and controlling crop diseases and insect pests, and provide services for increasing agricultural output and farmers' incomes.
