Recombinant inactivated H7 subtype avian influenza vaccine successfully developed
Recently, the reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture that the National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory has successfully developed a recombinant inactivated avian influenza virus vaccine (H7 subtype, H7N9/PR8 strain), which has passed the new veterinary drug evaluation and will serve as an emergency technical reserve.
To further improve the response to the H7N9 influenza epidemic, promptly detect and eliminate H7N9 avian influenza virus in poultry, and safeguard the quality and safety of animal products and public health security, the Ministry of Agriculture formulated and implemented the National Poultry H7N9 Influenza Elimination Plan. While implementing the elimination plan, the Ministry of Agriculture actively organized the National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory to develop an H7N9 avian influenza vaccine for emergency needs. Through the painstaking efforts of researchers, a recombinant inactivated avian influenza virus vaccine (H7 subtype, H7N9/PR8 strain) was successfully developed. Test results show that the vaccine is safe, has good immune efficacy, can provide effective protection against H7N9 avian influenza virus challenge, and can 100% prevent virus replication and shedding. It is of great significance for effectively blocking virus transmission and reducing the risk of highly pathogenic mutations in the virus. Once epidemic prevention and control require it, the vaccine can be used immediately to immunize poultry, ensuring that H7N9 avian influenza is preventable and controllable.
