Modern large-scale agricultural machinery in the Great Northern Wilderness ensures a bumper grain harvest
On the eve of National Day, the Heilongjiang reclamation area echoed with the roar of machines and the fragrance of ripening rice and soybeans. The Great Northern Wilderness once again welcomed a bumper harvest year, presenting a generous gift for the Republic's birthday, and in achieving this, agricultural mechanization played an indispensable role.
⟦NL> At the corn harvesting site of the Youyi Farm under the Hongxinglong Administration Bureau of the Heilongjiang General Bureau of State Farms, a huge machine was moving through the cornfield. A corn combine harvester as wide as nine ridges cut down, crushed and threshed whole stretches of corn in one pass. Machine operator Li Cai told us that this combine harvester was a newly acquired high-horsepower corn combine harvester at Youyi Farm this year. In a single shift it could harvest 450 mu of corn, and it not only crushed the stalks at the same time, but could also thresh and record information such as the weight, moisture and harvested area of the corn simultaneously.
It is understood that in the past three years, the Heilongjiang reclamation area has achieved a total investment of 9.3 billion yuan in updating agricultural machinery, adding more than 151,000 units (pieces) of various types of machinery from home and abroad. By the end of 2013, the reclamation area had built and improved 400 modern agricultural machinery equipment operation areas, with total agricultural machinery power reaching 8.953 million kilowatts, possessing 68,500 large and medium-sized agricultural tractors, 72,800 motorized rice transplanters, 28,400 combine harvesters and 88 agricultural aircraft. Last year, the comprehensive mechanization rate in the fields of the reclamation area reached 98%, and cross-regional operations completed 50.86 million mu. Modern large-scale agricultural machinery has become one of the important factors ensuring stable and high grain production.
At present, the agricultural machinery equipment of the reclamation area has reached the advanced level of developed countries in the world. While contributing to national food security, the Heilongjiang reclamation area has also become the leader of China's agricultural mechanization.
