How to care for orchids in spring? Master these care tips
springgrowing orchids!(
Chengdu, Sichuan. From my own measurements, in recent spring at noon inside an orchid greenhouse the temperature can reach around 20 degrees, and at night it is about 10 degrees. A yearfour seasonslies in spring, fororchidsthis is even more true, and for hobby growers without a greenhouse it is even more important. If this period is not handled well, then all hope can only wait until next year! I personally suggest doing the following work!
1 By looking at the leaf tips and leaf bases: if a pot of plants generally has scorched tips, then under normal circumstances the roots are poor. They should be repotted. Treatment method: cut off rotten roots and blackened damaged parts; the cut wound should be about 1 cm away from the necrotic part, and trim the remaining damaged basal leaves. Mix auxin and hymexazol with water and soak for about 3 hours. Auxin can promote wound healing and stimulate new root growth. Hymexazol can prevent and control soil-borne infectious diseases and has systemic penetrative properties. After potting, use this medicinal solution as the settling water. (Hymexazol is a soil fungicide, so it must be used as settling water after potting. If it is summer, streptomycin should also be added to soak the roots and used as settling water.) Rapid seedling collapse after potting has two situations: one is Fusarium wilt, and the other is bacterialsoft rotdisease)
2 In spring, in warmer places in Guangdong or inside orchid greenhouses, February and March are exactly the early stage before sprouting, and by April they have basically emerged from the soil. According to the theory of supplementing elements in advance, this is exactly the best time to fertilize. I personally suggest applying a balanced fertilizer and using foliar feeding. For those whose noon temperature cannot reach 20 degrees, it is best not to fertilize, so as to support leaf bud differentiation. Nitrogen fertilizer helps cell elongation, phosphorus fertilizer helps cell division, and potassium fertilizer is a comprehensive catalyst. (The above is for reference only and is my personal practice)
