Substandard fertilizer cheats farmers; industry and commerce authorities crack down on counterfeits to relieve farmers' worries

Recently, the Jiusan Branch of the Heilongjiang Industry and Commerce Bureau, during an autumn production materials market inspection, found that "San Yuan low-concentration compound fertilizer" had no factory address. They immediately retrieved the relevant materials for the purchase of this batch of compound fertilizer and took 2 kg each of the inspection sample and the retained backup sample of this compound fertilizer. After testing by the provincial authoritative department in accordance with relevant national standards, it was shown that the nitrogen content was 1.75%, the available phosphorus content was 5.79%, the potassium content was 5.07%, and the total nutrient content was only 12.60%, making it a substandard product.

After investigation and evidence collection, the industry and commerce authorities determined that Yinong Co., Ltd., in the process of selling 40 tons of purchased compound fertilizer, violated the relevant provisions of the Product Quality Law. In addition to punishment according to law, they also supervised the company in recovering the 14 tons of substandard fertilizer already sold to farmers and making refunds and compensation, thereby recovering economic losses for 85 farmers.
