Henan beef cattle industry receives 140 million yuan in central government funding support
To accelerate the development of beef and mutton production, in 2014 the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance organized and implemented the beef cattle foundation cow herd expansion and increment project. This year the central government allocated 140 million yuan to support the development of Henan Province's beef cattle industry. At present, Henan Province's 2014 beef cattle foundation cow herd expansion and increment project has also been fully launched and implemented.
This year is the first year of project implementation. Henan Province has determined that breeding farms and households and cooperatives with 10 or more beef cattle foundation cows (including 10) on hand in 23 project counties (cities) including Weishi, Luoning and Yiyang, as well as breeding farms and households with 500 or more beef cattle foundation cows on hand across the province, may all, on the basis of voluntary application, enjoy subsidies from Henan Province's beef cattle foundation cow herd expansion and increment project.
"The important significance of the state's implementation of the beef cattle foundation cow increment project lies in mobilizing farmers' enthusiasm for raising cows through the guidance of state fiscal funds, and advancing appropriately scaled cow breeding," said Gao Yongge, director of the Animal Husbandry Division of the Henan Provincial Animal Husbandry Bureau.
According to reports, the subsidy method of Henan Province's beef cattle foundation cow herd expansion and increment project adopts a "increase first, subsidize later" approach, implementing the principle that cow inventory determines the recipient and newly added calves determine the funds. The amount of subsidy depends on the number of newly added calves, that is, the amount of subsidy funds is determined according to the number of newly added calves.
