Land transfer revitalizes agriculture and drives up farmers' incomes
These past two days, the villagers of Hongxing Village in Daqintala Town, Naiman Banner, have been busy in the fields harvesting mustard greens. At the edge of the fields, mustard tubers are piled up like mountains, pale white tinged with green, each as big as a peck.
This spring, Hongxing Village transferred 5000 mu of land and carried out a project of replanting mustard greens after the wheat stubble. By establishing a cooperative and conducting intensive production, farmers who had farmed for generations were transformed into industrial workers, achieving efficient use of the land and higher incomes for farmers.
Villager Shen Yufu was busy in the fields, thoroughly enjoying himself. “My family has 14 and a half mu of land, all contracted to the cooperative. This year it is 1000 yuan per mu, so the rent totals 14500 yuan. My wife and I work at the cooperative, and so far we have earned nearly 30000 yuan. If we still relied on farming those 14 and a half mu, we would only earn about 20000 yuan a year. The difference is just too big. Land transfer is absolutely good for us farmers!” Shen Yufu said with a beaming smile. In Hongxing Village, nearly 100 villagers, like Shen Yufu, have transferred their land and also work at the cooperative.
To better manage the project of replanting mustard greens after the wheat stubble, Hongxing Village established the Yujiang Planting Cooperative, which uniformly purchases seeds, sows, manages the fields, harvests and sells, not only increasing yields but also saving costs. The village Party secretary said: “Our whole village has more than 6000 mu of cultivated land. This year 5000 mu was transferred, and the whole village is expected to earn 7 million yuan.”
Up to now, Naiman Banner has successfully transferred nearly 100000 mu of land. Through land transfer, enterprises and farming households have established close and stable ties of interest, achieving integrated operation of production, processing and sales, and of agriculture, industry and trade. The agricultural industry chain has been continuously extended, allowing farmers both to avoid risks and to have a stable income. Earning two incomes from one piece of land, and increasing every household's income through one model, after land transfer the farmers of this banner have realized the dream of raising their incomes without leaving home.
