It is reported that more than 70 experts and grain enterprise representatives from all over the country attended this conference, jointly discussing the current status of the domestic and international coarse grains and corn market and looking ahead to the future direction of the coarse grains and corn market. Tian Hongru, vice president of the China National Association of Grain Sector, said in his address that this year's coarse grains and corn market production and marketing prices have been fluctuating unpredictably, especially under the influence of integration with the international market, which has greatly increased the difficulty for production and marketing enterprises in judging market trends.
Affected by high temperatures and drought during the summer, corn production and quality both declined this year in producing areas such as Jilin and Henan. A senior analyst from the China Grain Network said at the meeting that, based on the grain network's research situation and the inspection results of other entities, China's total corn output in 2014 is expected to be about 424.6 billion jin, a decrease of about 12 billion jin from the previous year, a decline of 2.75%.
According to Feng Lichen, president of China Corn Network, under the country's current corn price protection policy, China's corn prices, planting benefit ratios, planting income ratios and inventory levels have all reached the world's highest, and China's future corn policy direction affects the nerves of the whole world.
As an important supplement to China's three major staple grains, coarse grains are a guarantee for the people's supply of staple and non-staple foods and occupy an important position in national food security. According to statistics, in 2013 the national total output of coarse grains reached 83.285 million tons, accounting for 13.8% of the national total grain output.
