At present, autumn and winter planting is nearing its end, and this is the critical period for strengthening pre-winter management and cultivating strong seedlings. On November 17, the Ministry of Agriculture dispatched 5 supervision teams composed of departmental officials and experts to 10 major production provinces including Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu and Anhui to carry out supervision and technical guidance on autumn and winter planting work, promptly grasp the seedling growth conditions of wheat and rapeseed, promote the implementation of various field management measures, ensure strong seedlings safely overwinter, and lay the foundation for a bumper summer grain and oil harvest next year.

The Ministry of Agriculture supervision teams went deep into the fields, visited villages and households, and focused on four areas of work: first, investigating and understanding the implementation of wheat and rapeseed sown area this autumn and winter, and analyzing the reasons for increases or decreases in area; second, through examining seedling conditions, soil moisture conditions and pest and disease conditions, comprehensively grasping the seedling growth conditions of wheat and rapeseed; third, investigating and understanding the key measures taken by various localities to advance autumn and winter planting work, as well as the implementation of key technologies such as chemical seed dressing, deep ploughing and subsoiling, post-sowing compaction, soil testing and formula fertilization, precision and semi-precision sowing, and winter irrigation; fourth, promptly discovering new situations and new problems in production, working together with local agricultural technicians to jointly improve technical plans, and putting forward targeted opinions and suggestions.

Doing a good job in pre-winter management is crucial to the start of next year's summer grain and oil production. The Ministry of Agriculture requires all localities to further improve pre-winter management technical plans, extensively organize departmental officials and agricultural technicians to go deep into the front lines of production, carry out classified guidance, and help farmers implement key measures such as compaction and moisture conservation, fertilizer and water management, pest and disease control, and cold and drought prevention according to local conditions, soil moisture conditions and seedling conditions, so as to gain the initiative for a bumper summer grain and oil harvest next year.
