Ministry of Agriculture Strengthens Work on Responding to Cold Wave and Snow-Ice Disasters in Grassland Animal Husbandry
Tianshan Net News (Reporters Pan Linqing, Wang Yu) In response to the large-scale strong wind and temperature drop weather expected in the near future, the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture recently issued a notice requiring relevant departments in Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Xinjiang and other places to effectively carry out work on responding to cold wave and snow-ice disasters in grassland animal husbandry.
According to forecasts from the National Meteorological Center, in the near future, China's central and eastern regions will experience large-scale strong wind and temperature drop weather, with temperature drops in some areas reaching 8°C to 14°C, accompanied by obvious precipitation processes. Northern Xinjiang, the northeastern part of the Northwest region, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, and northern and western North China will have light to moderate snow or sleet.
The General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture recently issued a notice on strengthening work on responding to cold wave and snow-ice disasters in grassland animal husbandry, requiring animal husbandry (agriculture) departments at all levels to strengthen collaboration with meteorological departments, improve the operational mechanism for monitoring and early warning of cold wave and snow-ice disasters, and enhance the ability to forecast, warn about and serve disaster weather. They should make full use of traditional media such as television and radio to carry out publicity on knowledge for preventing and responding to disaster weather, and use new methods such as Weibo and mobile phone text messages to promptly inform the public of disaster prevention information, so as to raise the disaster prevention and resistance awareness of farmers and herders and their ability to avoid danger, save themselves and help each other.
In addition, all localities should, in accordance with the relevant requirements of the "Emergency Plan of the Ministry of Agriculture for Cold Wave and Snow-Ice Disasters in Grassland Animal Husbandry," implement work responsibilities and strengthen emergency duty. Once a disaster occurs, they should quickly activate the corresponding level of emergency response, promptly dispatch emergency expert groups, go deep into herder households to understand the disaster situation, help solve prominent problems, and guide farmers and herders in doing a good job in all aspects of work such as removing snow from livestock sheds and pens, keeping livestock barns warm and cold-proof, matching livestock daily rations, storing and transporting forage and feed, caring for young livestock, and preventing and controlling animal epidemics, striving to reduce disaster losses to the lowest possible degree.
