I have always potted orchids using dry soil. The picture above shows the already-mixed four-in-one soil, which contains 50% granular humus soil (orchid mud), 20% soft Xian soil, 15% fired soil, and 15% Zhijinshi. The soil in the middle is the soil previously used at the bottom of the pot; when potting, it makes up about one third of the pot and is a mix of granular humus soil and Xian soil. The third picture is a size comparison of the two types of growing medium, and the last picture shows the color of the wet soil after potting and watering. This granular humus soil was given by Brother Qiangfeizhe from this website.
