News from this website  To strengthen veterinary drug safety supervision, ensure the quality and safety of animal products, and implement traceability management for veterinary drug products, in accordance with the arrangements of the Ministry of Agriculture, the China Institute of Veterinary Drug Control actively carried out the construction of the veterinary drug QR code identification system project, established the National Veterinary Drug Product Traceability System (hereinafter referred to as the traceability system) project team, meticulously formulated the project implementation plan, and steadily advanced the construction and piloting of the veterinary drug traceability system project, successfully completing the pilot work of the National Veterinary Drug Product Traceability System in November 2014.

In accordance with the requirements set out at the Ministry of Agriculture's pilot work kick-off meeting in February 2014, the China Institute of Veterinary Drug Control held training sessions in Henan, Guangdong, Beijing and other places, training a total of more than 500 people, opening 3 technical exchange platforms, and providing round-the-clock specific implementation and technical support for the operation of the traceability system. Institute leaders led teams to conduct in-depth surveys at more than 30 pilot enterprises (units) to investigate pilot work conditions, provide technical support, and solve practical problems encountered in the pilot work.

Since the launch of the pilot work, a total of 108 enterprises (including groups) nationwide participated in the pilot application of the traceability system for production, 4 operating enterprises and the supervision and law enforcement and veterinary administrative departments of 2 provinces and regions participated in testing the operation and supervision functions, and 13 equipment vendors (including automation integrators) and 52 printing enterprises participated in the pilot work. During the pilot period, the data collection method of veterinary drug production enterprises was mainly manual data collection, and 15 production enterprises completed the transformation to automated data collection production.

At present, the traceability system is operating well, and all work is progressing smoothly. As of November 30, 2014, the pilot veterinary drug production enterprises had applied for a total of 36,928,450 codes for 215 varieties, with 143 varieties and a total data volume of 15,878,567 entering storage, and 106 varieties and a total data volume of 4,430,596 leaving storage.

In this pilot work, under the organization and leadership of the Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, with the great attention of the pilot units and the active cooperation of the veterinary drug supervision and law enforcement departments, the China Institute of Veterinary Drug Control conscientiously carried out technical support work such as traceability system construction, publicity and training, and platform maintenance, successfully completing the pilot work of the traceability system and laying the foundation for the full implementation of veterinary drug quality and safety traceability management in our country.
