Do a good overall plan for farming; it will be better to divide it into zones.
Since the beginning of this year, affected by overcapacity and weak consumer demand, the national hog industry has been in a trough. Some companies with abundant capital, such as Wens and New Hope, have begun to make moves and plan a transformation, finding the "feng shui treasure land" of Northeast China for their ideal community-based, regional hog full industry chain. The pace of exploration has already been taken; how do peers view it? The reporter recently interviewed Liu Yaxuan, farm manager of Fujian Guanghua Best Ecological Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Co., Ltd. As a national-level hog core breeding farm, Liu Yaxuan said that building farms in the north depends on one's own situation, and implementing zone-based farming may better adapt to the current national industry situation.
Speaking of the advantages of moving north, Liu Yaxuan told the reporter: "Looking at the entire market alone, there is no problem in moving the focus of industry development northward. Northeast China can provide farmers with enough farming space, and the climate conditions can free farmers from worrying about heatstroke prevention and cooling for pigs. It also has cheap and high-quality feed such as corn. Why not do it?" Moreover, Liu Yaxuan admitted frankly to the reporter that due to weak market conditions, the farm, already in a loss-making situation, could no longer use high wages to attract enough manpower. She said: "Under such circumstances, compared with the south, Northeast China has sufficient labor, and the wage level will not be pushed too high."
But the south is not without advantages. Liu Yaxuan told the reporter that in terms of improved breeds, some local breeds in the south are very suitable for high-end meat products, and are only suitable for local raising; if placed in the north, their growth condition is not as good. Second, coastal cities such as Guangdong and Fujian are highly open to the outside world, and farmers can easily accept advanced technology and ideas, and dare to apply them in practice. In addition, she also believes that the warm and humid climate conditions and the environment of mountains and water in the south are more conducive to raising healthy, green pigs; raising pigs in the mountains, the elevation differences in mountainous areas can also inhibit the survival probability of some pathogenic bacteria, making epidemic prevention easier than in the north.
Liu Yaxuan told the reporter that whether raising pigs or transporting live pigs, what she pays attention to is epidemic disease prevention and control. If the farm is built in Northeast China, she told the reporter with some worry: "If the pig farm is moved to Northeast China, transportation costs will certainly be the issue that the farm most needs to consider. Moreover, during long-distance transportation of live pigs, the risk of disease is uncontrollable."
Finally, Liu Yaxuan revealed her own thoughts to the reporter. She feels that if farming is carried out by zones nationwide, it may be better for pigs raised in one place to be allowed to circulate only in a fixed region. However, whether moving north or raising them anywhere, any place must develop the pig industry according to the land's carrying capacity and the overall local plan. Never think that a vast land and abundant resources mean blind, unlimited development; it is necessary to designate areas where raising is allowed and areas where it is prohibited in advance, and plan the total farming quantity overall. Do not wait until after enterprises have built farms to discover that they do not meet the requirements and then demolish them, which truly wastes money and manpower.
