First China Meat Pigeon Industry Development Conference Jointly Seeks Industry Upgrading

In order to help China's meat pigeon farming industry emerge from its difficulties, resume production, rebuild confidence, and promote the healthy and orderly development of the meat pigeon industry, the "First China Meat Pigeon Industry Development Conference and China Meat Pigeon Industry Association Preparatory Meeting," hosted by provincial industry associations such as the Guangdong Province Meat Pigeon Industry Association, Jiangsu Province Meat Pigeon Industry Association, and Shanghai Meat Pigeon Industry Association, together with the Beijing Yegu Health Industry Group, and organized by Beijing Youdi Pigeon Industry Co., Ltd., was held in Shunyi District, Beijing. More than 400 leaders, experts, scholars, and representatives of meat pigeon farming enterprises from domestic and international relevant departments and research institutions, including the National Animal Husbandry Station of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the China Animal Agriculture Association, China Agricultural University, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Beijing Institute of Nutritional Resources, and the University of Sydney in Australia, attended the conference.

The conference held enthusiastic discussions and explorations around the theme of "building consensus, healthy development" for the meat pigeon industry. The meeting analyzed the current situation and development direction of meat pigeon farming at home and abroad, as well as the opportunities and challenges faced. At present, China's pigeon farming industry stands out among specialty poultry industries, and its annual output has become the "fourth bird" after the "three birds" (chicken, duck, goose). The total national meat pigeon stock has reached 30 million pairs, with an annual output of 430 million squabs. Meat pigeon products are the cleanest, most environmentally friendly, and most beneficial meat food products for human needs among the meat products currently produced. Squabs are generally marketed at 15-28 days of age; their meat is fresh, sweet, and tender, with fine and crisp bones, delicious and nutritious. They are a nutritious tonic and green food suitable for all ages, providing high-quality food for the shopping baskets of Chinese citizens.

This conference explored how the meat pigeon industry, as a health industry, can transform and upgrade; explored sustainable production methods for meat pigeon farming; explored the future development direction of the industry; and promoted advanced scientific and technological achievements through technical exchange. The meeting also proposed that the China Meat Pigeon Industry Association should be applied for and established as soon as possible, and adopted the "Proposal for the Establishment of the China Meat Pigeon Industry Association."
