Recently, the Office of the Leading Group for the Construction of Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zones of the Ministry of Agriculture released for the first time the "Exploration and Practice of Agricultural Modernization with Chinese Characteristics——Report on the Development of National Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zones," summarizing and distilling the experience of building modern agriculture demonstration zones into seven models, providing a roadmap that can be referenced and replicated for regions in the same areas and at similar stages of development to develop modern agriculture.

The modern large-scale agriculture construction model of the Heilongjiang Reclamation Area. With the main goal of raising labor productivity, it has gradually formed a highly mechanized, labor-saving modern large-scale agriculture construction model characterized mainly by large farm machinery, large-scale water conservancy, large-scale science and technology, and large-scale cooperation, suitable for promotion in Jilin, Heilongjiang, the northern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, and other places in China with relatively abundant per capita arable land resources.

The water-saving ecological agriculture construction model of Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. With ecological friendliness and efficient use of water resources as the main goals, and supported by dryland water-saving technology and circular agriculture technology, it has gradually formed a labor-intensive water-saving ecological agriculture construction model characterized mainly by dryland water-saving and green ecology, suited to the arid and semi-arid regions of northwest China and elsewhere where water resources are tight and agricultural labor resources are relatively abundant.

The mountainous characteristic agriculture construction model of Meitan, Guizhou Province. With the main goal of improving land output efficiency, it has gradually formed a technology-supported, labor-intensive mountainous characteristic agriculture construction model characterized mainly by regionalized layout, base-oriented production, high-quality products, and integrated industry chains, suitable for modern agriculture development in the mountainous areas of southwest, south, and central China, which have superior ecological environments and abundant mountainous resources but weak industrial foundations.

The "two zones" agriculture construction model of Cixi, Zhejiang Province. With the main goals of stabilizing grain production and improving land output efficiency, it vigorously builds grain production functional zones and modern agriculture parks, gradually forming a land-intensive "two zones" agriculture construction model characterized mainly by efficient, ecological, and premium products and by the organic combination of stabilizing grain and increasing income, suitable for the eastern coastal areas with many people and little land and a relatively high level of industrialization and urbanization.

The agricultural industrialization cluster construction model of Yongcheng, Henan Province. With the main goals of raising labor productivity and land output rate in a balanced way, it has gradually formed an agricultural industrialization cluster construction model characterized mainly by large-scale planting, local processing, and production-marketing linkage, with equal emphasis on machinery intensity and capital intensity, suitable for promotion and application in the central region, which has little land and many people, good arable land conditions, and a foundation for industrial development.

The urban agriculture construction model of Wuqing District, Tianjin. With the goals of stabilizing the development of "shopping basket" and other products and developing the multiple functions of agriculture, it has gradually formed a land-intensive urban modern agriculture construction model characterized mainly by serving the city, livable ecology, high quality and efficiency, and sightseeing and leisure, taking a leading step in the development of modern agriculture in the suburbs of China's large and medium-sized cities.

The grass-livestock balance agriculture construction model of West Ujimqin Banner, Inner Mongolia. With the goal of promoting the sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry, it has increased efforts to protect grasslands and vigorously developed modern animal husbandry, gradually forming a land-intensive grass-livestock balance agriculture construction model characterized mainly by natural ecology, suited to the pastoral areas of northeast and northwest China and elsewhere with abundant per capita grassland resources.

A relevant official from the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture stated that since 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture has, in two batches, recognized 153 modern agriculture demonstration zones nationwide, which have become an important platform and a powerful lever for promoting local modern agriculture development, initially demonstrating vigorous vitality and strong driving force, and playing a positive role in leading the development of modern agriculture in the region and even across the country.
