Construction begins on China's first inland designated port for imported meat
Recently, construction began on the first inland designated port for imported meat in China -- the designated port for imported meat in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone of Henan Province, approved for establishment by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
The total investment in the designated port for imported meat project in the experimental zone is 150 million yuan, and the construction content includes passage checkpoints, a joint inspection building, inspection platforms, and more. Construction of the project started on December 21, 2014, and it is planned to be completed in August 2015. After the port is completed, daily inspection of frozen meat can reach 1,200 tons, which not only greatly reduces the logistics costs of imported meat in Henan Province, but can also rely on the construction advantages of two first-class ports, Zhengzhou Airport and Zhengzhou Railway Container Center Station, and through a multimodal transport system of air, rail, and road, realize an imported meat logistics channel of “global -- Zhengzhou -- China.”
