“Adjusting the production structure and adjusting overall capacity is the most important task for the livestock industry in 2015.” said Li Xirong, executive vice president of the China Animal Agriculture Association.

Over more than 30 years of reform and opening up, China's livestock product production and sales have grown rapidly. In the process of rapid consumption growth, there has been a bubble in total livestock product consumption. This bubble is mainly wasteful consumption and excessive consumption. Since the introduction of the Central Eight-Point Regulation, wasteful consumption and excessive consumption that do not comply with the regulations have been effectively controlled, livestock product consumption has gradually returned to normal, production has begun to revolve around normal consumption, and livestock product consumption has entered a new normal.

Li Xirong pointed out that the China Animal Agriculture Association's key tasks for 2015 include the following: First, reflect industry demands and safeguard industry interests. Emergencies in the livestock industry have a great impact on the entire industry. In recent years, the entire industry has actively explored how to do a good job in emergency response plans, strengthen communication with relevant departments, make the facts of emergencies public as soon as possible, and guide the media to report objectively and fairly. Second, actively strengthen the construction of the livestock industry information system. Li Xirong believes that improving the livestock industry information system is crucial. At present, the new situations reflecting enterprise demands and industry development all rely on specific survey data. The timeliness and accuracy of data provide an effective basis for reflecting problems within the industry and seeking policy support. Third, promote exchanges and cooperation within the industry. Fourth, actively develop members and expand the team. Fifth, strengthen international exchanges and enhance international influence. Sixth, strengthen the association's own development and improve work efficiency.

Li Xirong stated that there are still many issues in the industry that urgently need to be studied: first, how the livestock industry can transform and upgrade under the new normal; second, the standardized construction of farms (households); third, the cold-chain transportation of livestock products still needs to be discussed jointly by the entire industry.
