IoT Breathes New Life into Traditional Agricultural Supply Services
Recently, reporters learned from the National Agricultural Supply IoT Construction and Agricultural Supply Operation Service Innovation On-site Meeting held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, that IoT technology has achieved initial results in upgrading traditional agricultural supply services, and has formed a series of 17 sets of independently owned intellectual property rights, including full-industry-chain agricultural supply IoT technical solutions covering chemical fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, warehousing, logistics, sales and after-sales service; 1 national and industry standard has been officially released, with 3 pending review; 15 national invention patents have been authorized, with 31 published and accepted; and 72 national software copyrights, laying a solid foundation for establishing a modern agricultural supply operation service network system with China's own independent intellectual property rights.
It is reported that in September 2011, the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement on Jointly Building a Modern Agricultural Supply Operation Service Network System with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. After more than three years of efforts by both sides, results have been achieved in three aspects. First, the integration of modern information technologies such as the IoT with traditional agricultural supply circulation business has been preliminarily completed. An agricultural supply IoT technical system with independent intellectual property rights has been built; a series of key technologies have been breakthroughs, including invisible QR codes, soil fertility modeling, and automatic identification of pests and diseases for precision pesticide application; and industry standards such as the Coding Rules for Electronic Codes of Agricultural Supply Commodities have been promulgated and implemented. Second, the construction of agricultural supply IoT demonstration bases has been jointly promoted. The construction of the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives Agricultural Supply IoT Application Demonstration Base (Wuxi) has been advanced. At present, the base has completed infrastructure construction including the Agricultural Supply IoT Industrial Park and the National Agricultural Supply IoT Data Center, and has completed the joint debugging and testing of basic support systems such as the agricultural supply quality traceability and online query system, intelligent scheduling of agricultural supply distribution, remote diagnosis of pests and diseases, operation and management of agricultural supply enterprises, and remote monitoring of stores. Third, the research and application demonstration project of the intelligent information platform for agricultural supply management and circulation has been effectively implemented. A key project of the Ministry of Science and Technology under the "12th Five-Year Plan" science and technology support program has been implemented. Application demonstration units have carried out application demonstration work in major agricultural supply products and service models such as fertilizers, pesticides, seeds and agricultural supply chains, applying modern information technology to the operation and management processes of traditional agricultural supply circulation. In using IoT technology to advance the construction of an agricultural supply quality traceability system, carry out intelligent enterprise management, and provide agricultural supply informatization services, they have formed distinctive application models in light of actual conditions.
Relevant personnel from the Chinese Academy of Sciences said at the meeting that in the next step, the Chinese Academy of Sciences will pool software and hardware resources to help the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives improve the construction and application of projects such as the Agricultural Supply Big Data Center, while promoting the industrialization of agricultural supply IoT technology, and actively promoting the demonstration and application of online supply and marketing cooperative platforms and technologies such as the agricultural supply quality traceability and anti-counterfeiting system, the Online Crop Hospital, My Farm, and the Supply and Marketing E-Market.
