After the New Year's Day period, over the weekend many slaughtering enterprises raised their purchasing prices, while breeding enterprises adjusted their receiving prices accordingly. Among them, Jiangxi Wens pig farming company adjusted its receiving price three times, raising the pig price to 6.25-6.4 yuan/jin; while Guangxi-Guangdong Wens pig farming company lowered its pig price by 0.1 yuan, with the weekend four-way crossbred pig price reported at 6.50 yuan/jin and the two-way crossbred pig price reported at 6.5 yuan/jin; in East China, Jiangsu Wens pig price was raised to 6.7 yuan/jin on the 2nd; Hefei Wens raised its receiving price to 6.7 yuan/jin. In Central China, Lianghu Wens pig price was reported at 6.65-6.7 yuan/jin; Henan Muyuan pig price rose to 6.7-6.8 yuan/jin.

Pig prices in some regions and provinces/cities are as follows: Jiangxi Gao'an pig price 6.6 yuan/jin; Guizhou Kaili pig price 6.7-6.8 yuan/jin; Jiangsu Huai'an pig price 6.5-6.7 yuan/jin; Anhui Bengbu pig price 6.5-6.7 yuan/jin; Hunan Yueyang pig price 6.45-6.65 yuan/jin; Hebei Cangzhou pig price 6.4-6.5 yuan/jin; Guangdong Sihui pig price 6.3-6.5 yuan/jin.

In the past December, the shift in meat consumption was one of the main reasons winter pig prices were hard to revive. Since autumn began, the number of citizens in South China consuming beef, mutton and donkey meat increased quite noticeably, and under the premise of stable slaughter volumes, the price fluctuation throughout the year was not large (for example, in Guangdong the mutton price rose steadily to 36.8 yuan/jin by the end of December, and the beef price was reported at 37 yuan/jin). And with no obvious increase in terminal consumption and a continuous increase in pig supply, the national pig market was chaotic, and the slaughter prices in pig-producing areas kept adjusting.

At the current stage, pig prices in various places will prioritize stability. It is recommended that major breeding companies and farmers, while doing a good job in pig herd health care, steadily increase sales volume and pay attention to post-holiday sales.
