This website news  In 2014, the Ministry of Agriculture organized and carried out 4 routine monitoring rounds for agricultural product quality and safety, monitoring a total of 117 varieties and 94 indicators across 5 major product categories in 151 large and medium-sized cities in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) nationwide, with 43,924 samples taken, and an overall pass rate of 96.9%. Among them, the monitoring pass rates for vegetables, livestock and poultry products, and aquatic products were 96.3%, 99.2%, and 93.6%, respectively, and the pass rates for fruits and tea were 96.8% and 94.8%, respectively. The level of agricultural product quality and safety remained stable.

The Ministry of Agriculture required that all localities strengthen supervision, follow up with supervisory spot checks on agricultural product quality and safety, and investigate and punish non-compliant products and their producing units in accordance with the law. In line with the spirit of the Central Rural Work Conference and the national on-site meeting on addressing “dining table pollution”, 2015 will continue to focus on illegal and excessive use of veterinary antibiotics and illegal slaughter of dead and diseased livestock and poultry, carry out special rectification, maintain a high-pressure crackdown posture, increase law enforcement and inspection efforts, and severely crack down on all kinds of illegal and non-compliant behavior. The Ministry of Agriculture deployed and launched the 2015 national routine monitoring (risk monitoring) work for agricultural product quality and safety, strengthened supervision of agricultural product quality and safety during the Spring Festival, promptly identified problems and hidden dangers, and ensured the safety of agricultural product consumption.
