How to handle it when it does not sprout?

When I saw the title, I felt it was a bit far-fetched. Actually, it is not! I think anyone who grows orchids has encountered this: an orchid bought and brought home does not grow for a year or so, yet does not die either. It simply does not sprout. Some that do sprout do not grow, or do not grow large. Some orchid growers would say it is a "male orchid." Actually, it is none of that. In my view and conclusion, when an orchid is being cultivated in your hands, improper management, fertilizer damage, pesticide damage, or when the potting medium is too dry and then suddenly watered with water and fertilizer at the wrong dosage and too high a concentration, causes damage to the root tips, which blocks the orchid's normal absorption and conduction. I have encountered this situation. The year before last, I bought a 'Huanqiu' with 3 shoots. After a year of cultivation last year, it neither died nor sprouted. At the beginning of this year, I looked into the pot. The roots were all right. All the root tips had turned black. There were completely no water-absorbing roots left. Even the few centimeters of new roots emerging with difficulty near the pseudobulb had black root tips. The entire roots were stiff, with no elasticity, and had completely lost the function of absorbing and conducting nutrients. In this situation, I use the soaking method: first I lightly clean the orchid, place it in a basin or bucket with running tap water. If there is an oxygen pump for goldfish to add oxygen, even better. Put the whole orchid in there to soak for 24 hours or 48 hours, then take it out. Let it dry until no visible water remains, then plant it with fresh potting medium and water it to settle the roots. It is very effective. The 'Huanqiu' handled this way sprouted 3 shoots this year and they are still very strong. This method is only my personal opinion. I hope it can be a reference for orchid growers.

Haha! My level and time are limited. Otherwise there would still be many things worth learning and discussing with orchid growers!!

This 'Huanqiu' was handled with this method. Believe it or not, up to you.... you!!
