Recently, urbanization has been developing very rapidly, and I often hear colleagues and friends around me say that their hometowns or the villages around their homes have been demolished. Although they were given a certain amount of economic compensation, what I hear in their words is great reluctance. Demolition could originally promote the development of rural areas toward cities and improve rural economic and living conditions, so why are people dissatisfied?

In my opinion, demolition should originally be a good thing, but in the end it has fallen to the point where the people are dissatisfied. The main reason is that it was not people-oriented and did not properly solve the most basic livelihood security problems of the people affected by demolition. In order to better promote urbanization development, we should solve the people's most basic livelihood security problems at different levels and give them a sense of belonging.

Solving the employment problem of people who have lost their land and jobs is key. Because of demolition, farmers who originally made a living from the land have had to leave their hometowns, bid farewell to their elderly parents and young children, and go to other cities to work. Because they have no skills, they not only work long hours and do the heaviest and most tiring work, but also earn very low incomes, which causes great psychological imbalance. Therefore, for this group of people, we should offer free skills training courses so that they can learn a specialized skill, and encourage local enterprises to accept such people; we can also encourage people who have lost their land and jobs to start their own businesses, with certain policy support.

Solving the elderly care problem is the foundation. Before demolition, the whole family lived together and could look after one another. Now, in order to survive, those who are able to work have no choice but to leave their hometowns to make a living. The elderly and children at home are their greatest concern. In order to let the labor force work wholeheartedly, we must solve their worries. Community nursing homes should be built in the newly built resettlement communities so that the elderly can live together and look after one another. In this way, they will not feel lonely, and their children working away from home can work well without worrying too much about their parents.

Solving children's education problem is indispensable. Children are the flowers of the motherland, the hope of tomorrow, and even more the hope of a family. Children's education problem cannot be ignored. Because the urban-rural dual system is deeply rooted, although there have been some reforms now, it is still not so easy for migrant children to attend school. Even if they are lucky enough to attend school, they may still receive unfair treatment at school, causing great harm to the children's hearts. We must thoroughly eliminate the urban-rural dualistic mentality, organize more activities in which migrant people and local people participate together, enhance their feelings, and give migrant people a sense of identity with and belonging to the city.

In my opinion, in the process of advancing urbanization development, if we can properly solve the work, elderly care, and education problems of residents affected by demolition, our urbanization development will surely enter the hearts of the people and win the people's praise.
