2015 Minimum Purchase Prices for Rice Announced by the NDRC

The 2015 minimum purchase prices for rice were as follows: the minimum purchase prices for early indica rice (grade 3, the same below), mid-to-late indica rice and japonica rice were 135 yuan, 138 yuan and 155 yuan per 50 kg respectively.

To protect farmers' interests and prevent “cheap grain hurting farmers,” in 2015 the state continued to implement the minimum purchase price policy in major rice-producing areas. Taking into comprehensive consideration factors including production costs, market supply and demand, comparative returns, international market prices and industrial development, and with the approval of the State Council, the minimum purchase prices for early indica rice, mid-to-late indica rice and japonica rice produced in 2015 were 135 yuan, 138 yuan and 155 yuan per 50 kg respectively, remaining unchanged from the 2014 level.
