Winter wheat gradually enters the greening period; the South needs to guard against continuous rainy weather
National agrometeorological intelligence information shows that in the coming week, temperatures in most parts of China will be on the high side, with frequent rainy weather in the south. Excessive soil moisture will persist in parts of the Jianghuai, Jianghan and Jiangnan regions, which is unfavorable for the growth of winter wheat, rapeseed, field vegetables and economic forest fruits.
At present, winter wheat in most parts of the northwest, north China and Huanghuai regions is in the overwintering period; winter wheat in southern Xinjiang, the southeastern part of the northwest region, and parts of north China and the Huanghuai region has entered the greening period. Most winter wheat in the Jianghuai region is in the tillering stage; winter wheat in southern Jianghan and most of the southwest region has entered the jointing stage, and parts of Yunnan have entered the heading to flowering stage. Early rice in the coastal areas of Fujian and Guangdong is in the sowing and emergence stage, and that in Hainan is in the three-leaf to tillering stage.
It is expected that from the 23rd to March 1, temperatures in most parts of the north will be about 1°C higher than the same period in normal years; from the 25th to the 28th, there will be light to moderate snow or sleet in eastern parts of the northwest region, western and southern parts of north China, and the Huanghuai region, further replenishing soil moisture and benefiting the safe overwintering and normal greening growth of wheat. However, from the 22nd to the 23rd, under the influence of cold air, temperatures in central and eastern Inner Mongolia and most of the northeast will drop by 6-10°C, with local areas in northeastern Inner Mongolia and central parts of the northeast region dropping by 12-14°C, which is unfavorable for facility agriculture and livestock production. Meteorological experts suggest that the northeast and Inner Mongolia should do a good job in windproof reinforcement and warmth preservation for facility greenhouses and livestock sheds, to prevent shed damage and freezing of crops and young livestock. As winter wheat in the north gradually enters the greening growth period, all localities should closely monitor weather forecasts and soil moisture, do a good job in classified management of wheat fields, and according to soil moisture and seedling conditions, timely irrigate with greening water and apply greening fertilizer, to promote steady growth of winter wheat after greening; wheat fields with excessively vigorous seedlings should be properly pressed in a timely and moderate manner to increase the rate of tillers forming ears.
In the coming week, although temperatures in most parts of the south will be on the high side, there will be frequent rainy weather, among which precipitation in the Jianghuai, Jianghan, Jiangnan, south China, Guizhou and Chongqing regions will be 20-80 mm, with local areas exceeding 90 mm. Excessive soil moisture in some areas will persist, adversely affecting the growth of winter wheat, rapeseed, field vegetables and economic forest fruits. In addition, around the 27th, rain will turn to sleet in the Jianghuai and other regions, and some field crops may suffer snow disasters or freezing damage. Meteorological experts suggest that winter wheat and rapeseed production areas in the south should continue to do a good job in field management, and areas with excessively wet soil should pay attention to timely clearing ditches and regulating soil moisture to avoid waterlogging damage; winter wheat and rapeseed in the southwest region have entered the vigorous growth stage, and all localities should apply fertilizer in a timely manner according to crop growth to ensure nutrient supply. Southern south China has entered the suitable sowing period for early rice, and all localities should seize the favorable weather of recently high temperatures to speed up sowing progress and ensure timely sowing and seedling raising of early rice.
