China's agricultural product processing industry revenue has grown by more than 20% for 10 consecutive years

It was learned at the founding conference of the Agricultural Product Processing Industry Branch of the China Quality Agricultural Products Development and Service Association held on the 2nd that from 2003 to 2013, the main business revenue of above-scale enterprises in China's agricultural product processing industry increased from 2.63 trillion yuan to 17 trillion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of more than 20%, and it has become one of the most dynamic industries in the national economy and a basic, strategic and pillar industry of agriculture that spans the three sectors, brings together multiple industries, drives employment and income growth, and meets consumer demand.

Vice Minister of Agriculture Yu Xinrong said at the conference that against the backdrop of China's economy entering a new normal and agriculture entering a new stage, how to continue strengthening the foundational position of agriculture and promote sustained increases in farmers' incomes, how to solve the difficult problem of the "double squeeze" of agricultural product prices approaching the "ceiling" and production costs on the "floor" continuously rising, and how to break through the hard constraints of resources and the environment, are realistic issues that must be faced and resolved in deepening agricultural and rural reform. At present, developing the agricultural product processing industry is of great significance for transforming the agricultural development model, adjusting and optimizing the structure of the agricultural and rural economy, promoting farmers' employment and income growth, and promoting the sustained, stable and healthy development of China's economy.
