Kingenta Leads China's Movement to Reduce Fertilizer Use on Farmland
In recent years, the state has actively promoted the establishment of a long-term mechanism for farmland quality protection and set the goal of achieving zero growth in the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides by 2020. Kingenta Ecological Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has made the research and development of new-type fertilizers its foremost task, pursuing a path of sustainable development through extraordinary R&D investment and personally contributing its strength to the protection and improvement of farmland quality.
Science Leads the Way to Sustainable Farmland Development
In recent years, extensive fertilization practices have caused severe soil pollution, wasted precious resources, and led to increasingly serious soil compaction. Faced with this situation, the Kingenta Group strongly recognized that for an enterprise to grow healthily, it must develop new-type fertilizers that can both increase yields and promote environmental improvement. The low utilization rate of chemical fertilizers is the main cause of environmental pollution from fertilizers. Kingenta joined forces with dozens of renowned universities and research institutions at home and abroad to carry out technical research on new-type fertilizers that are highly efficient and energy-saving, resource-conserving, and ecologically friendly, and successfully developed slow- and controlled-release fertilizers with independent intellectual property rights suitable for field crops, building the world's largest slow- and controlled-release fertilizer production base with a capacity of 1.7 million tons. To adapt to the reality that China's shortage of water resources constrains the development of modern agriculture, Kingenta gathered top experts from around the world to conduct technical research on integrated water and fertilizer technology. On July 20, 2014, it successfully put into production a 600,000-ton-per-year nitro fertilizer project in Guizhou. On November 20, it again used 1.23 billion yuan raised to fund the 600,000-ton nitro compound fertilizer project in Guizhou and the 400,000-ton water-soluble fertilizer project under construction. Once all projects are fully operational, Kingenta's water-soluble fertilizer and nitro fertilizer production capacity will leap to the forefront of the industry, and it will possess world-class-quality nitro fertilizers with clear advantages in improving fertilizer utilization rates, conserving agricultural water, reducing ecological and environmental pollution, improving crop quality, and reducing labor, laying a solid foundation for advancing China's integrated water and fertilizer technology and achieving a magnificent transformation and upgrading of the enterprise.
At present, Kingenta has set its sights on biological fertilizers, foliar fertilizers, soil conditioners and other new-type fertilizers that can address many problems such as environmental pollution, ecological imbalance, soil acidification, declining biological fertility, and the quality and safety of agricultural products, forming a series of plant nutrition package fertilizers for different crops, achieving simultaneous increases in crop yield and quality, striving to become the world's leading plant nutrition expert, continuously improving farmland quality, and continuing to lead the development of China's new-type fertilizer industry, making its due contribution to the development of ecological agriculture.
⟦NL> Transition to Services Drives New Vitality in Agricultural Inputs
To further enhance the company's capabilities in agrochemical services, Kingenta organized and innovated the market promotion model of “simultaneous seeding and fertilizing” and integrated water and fertilizer technology, establishing 500 agrochemical service teams nationwide and carrying out the “Agrochemical Service Ten Thousand Mile Journey,” using technical services to drive channel expansion. It subsequently spent 580 million yuan to build an agrochemical center project, planning to build a headquarters agrochemical service center and 100 regional agrochemical service centers, with service coverage spanning 14 provinces across 6 regions: East China, South China, Central China, North China, Southwest, and Northwest. It is understood that the “simultaneous seeding and fertilizing” technology has been promoted over 18.5 million mu cumulatively over 6 years, generating 3.7 billion yuan in new economic benefits.
Wan Lianbu, Chairman of the Kingenta Group, stated that under the new situation and new normal of the industry, Kingenta has timely proposed the new corporate vision of “the world's leading plant nutrition expert and provider of planting industry solutions,” which is both shaped by the times and required by its own development, and is an interpretation of the company's long-term development direction based on an accurate grasp of customer needs and its own core competencies. In the future, Kingenta will build the 100 regional agrochemical service centers nationwide into comprehensive large-scale service platforms integrating the production and sales of new-type fertilizers as well as the agency sales of pesticides, seeds, agricultural machinery and raw materials, and agrochemical services, and will increase efforts to cultivate new-type farmers, establishing a “ten-thousand-person agrochemical service” promotion team. At the same time, Kingenta will also leverage the advantages of its nationwide distribution network and agrochemical service centers to build a nationwide agricultural input e-commerce platform, driving further upgrading of channels and services.
Global Wisdom Builds a New Engine for Modern Agriculture
To advance the development of new-type fertilizers and integrated water and fertilizer technology, Kingenta has actively strengthened cooperation with some world-class advanced peers abroad. At present, the company has established long-term cooperative relationships with 6 universities in the United States, 3 laboratories of the United States Department of Agriculture, Norway's Agrinos, Israel's Rivulis, Israel's Netafim, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and the Israel-China Agricultural Exchange and Cooperation Center, among other enterprises and institutions, aiming to enhance the company's technical level and R&D innovation capabilities in fields such as new-type fertilizers and plant nutrition. On November 2, 2014, the “Kingenta—Rivulis Agricultural Science and Technology Research Center” was officially inaugurated. This is also Kingenta's second overseas R&D center operated as a company. The center will leverage the resource advantages of both China and Israel, track advanced international agricultural technology, and strengthen research on agricultural science and technology, especially water-soluble fertilizer and integrated water and fertilizer technology, international cooperative research on new agricultural technology projects, the construction of modern agriculture demonstration parks, and the demonstration and promotion of integrated water and fertilizer technology, serving the realization of China's agricultural modernization and further promoting the development of “smart agriculture.”
As a leading enterprise in China's compound fertilizer industry, Kingenta will continue to invest extraordinarily in scientific and technological R&D, broaden its global vision, provide farmers with high-quality, technology-leading “products + services,” promote farmland protection and the sustainable development of the ecological environment, and thereby advance the path of modernization of China's agriculture. This is the historical mission and inescapable responsibility the enterprise shoulders.
