How does the integration of the three industries promote farmers' income growth?
On the afternoon of March 9, Yang Xiaoping, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, gave an exclusive interview to a Xinhua Net reporter. Yang Xiaoping proposed promoting the integration of the three industries to solve difficult problems such as farmers' income growth and food safety.
Yang Xiaoping mentioned that farmers' income growth is related to the future development of China's economy. Food safety, meanwhile, is related to everyone's health and is closely connected to everyone.
The integration of the three industries means advancing agricultural modernization, introducing modern industrial organization methods such as industrial chains and value chains into agriculture, and promoting the integrated interaction of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries. The integration of the three industries can solve the two major agricultural problems of who will farm the land and how to farm it. Yang Xiaoping believes that the integration of the three industries is the future development trend of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and that new operating entities must be relied upon to mobilize productive forces, thereby liberating productive forces and promoting farmers' income growth.
Yang Xiaoping proposed that to eliminate food safety hazards at the source, it is necessary to pursue appropriate scale and apply modern production methods to agriculture in order to solve this problem. "For example, when an enterprise like Charoen Pokphand, which has technology, capital, market access and credibility, enters agriculture, rural areas and farmers, it combines with millions of farmers to carry out organized agricultural production. On the one hand, this liberates productive forces, and on the other hand, it also helps solve the food safety problem."
