Uphold honest and self-disciplined business practices, and effectively safeguard farmers' interests

As spring returns to the earth, the whole country from south to north successively enters the busy spring plowing season, which is also the peak period for farmers to purchase seeds and other agricultural production materials. In order to safeguard farmers' interests, promptly provide farmers with excellent varieties and trustworthy seeds, ensure the safety of seed quantity, quality and varieties, and meet the needs of agricultural mode transformation and farmers' structural adjustment, the China Seed Association issues the following initiative to seed enterprises across the country:

1. Operate in accordance with the law and in good faith. Strictly abide by the Seed Law, the Regulations on the Protection of New Plant Varieties and other laws, regulations and related rules and standards, adhere to the professional ethics of “being responsible, valuing contracts and keeping promises”, foster the industry ethos of “law-abiding and disciplined, honest business, fair competition and mutual benefit”, standardize production and business practices, and resolutely resist misconduct that corrupts market business ethics, such as breaking faith and fraud, producing and selling counterfeit goods, and breach of contract without cause.

2. Eliminate counterfeit seeds. Actively cooperate with government departments in carrying out special governance of the seed market, severely crack down on the production and sale of seeds under falsely borrowed brand names, and jointly maintain seed market order. Consciously refrain from producing or selling fake seeds, from cheating or harming farmers, and from damaging farmers' interests. Resolutely prevent counterfeit seeds from entering the market. Report counterfeit seeds to relevant departments promptly upon discovery.

3. Guarantee seed quality. Adhere to quality first, establish and improve internal quality assurance systems, strictly implement crop seed production and inspection technical standards, and ensure that the quality of seeds sold is not lower than the quality indicators marked on the labels; eliminate false publicity, refrain from exaggerated advertising, and supply farmers with trustworthy seeds.

4. Provide quality services. Adhere to the business philosophy of “serving agriculture and serving farmers”, ensure seed packaging labels meet standards and are detailed and truthful; provide cultivation technical instructions with seeds sold, and clearly inform buyers of the weaknesses of varieties; establish and improve after-sales service systems, and in the event of seed quality disputes, proactively report to relevant departments, be willing to take responsibility, safeguard farmers' interests, and build a good corporate image.
