Integrated water and fertilizer technology gives rise to a new normal for green agriculture
During the 2015 National Two Sessions, environmental protection once again became a focal topic. Strengthening pollution prevention and control, promoting the transformation of energy production and consumption patterns, and advancing ecological protection and construction were listed as key government priorities for the year. Wan Lianbu, a deputy to the National People's Congress and chairman of Kingenta Group, put forward at the meeting the proposal to "vigorously promote integrated water and fertilizer technology to achieve efficient use of water resources," driving a new phase in China's green agriculture revolution.
Integrated water and fertilizer technology gives rise to a new normal for green agriculture
China is severely short of water resources, with the annual agricultural water shortage exceeding 30 billion cubic meters. The 2015 No. 1 Central Document proposed strengthening ecological governance, vigorously promoting water-saving technology, fully implementing regional large-scale efficient water-saving irrigation actions, and increasing efforts in water pollution prevention and water ecological protection. Not long ago, the Ministry of Agriculture issued the "Action Plan for Zero Growth in Chemical Fertilizer Use," which explicitly stated that by 2020, the whole country must achieve the goal of "zero growth" in chemical fertilizer use.
Wan Lianbu pointed out that vigorously promoting integrated water and fertilizer technology and achieving efficient use of water resources will become the mainstream trend in agricultural modernization this year. China's integrated water and fertilizer technology has broad room for development; at the current stage, it is necessary to increase funding, strengthen experimental and demonstration work, and at the same time deepen basic research and establish well-developed regional technical models. In addition, it is also necessary to strengthen demonstration and training, establish a sound technical and agrochemical service system, and optimize promotion mechanisms so that multiple parties cooperate to advance technology promotion and application. Wan Lianbu said that the promotion of water-soluble fertilizers and integrated water and fertilizer technology not only helps save water and fertilizer, but is also of great significance to building intensive, environmentally friendly agriculture.
It is reported that Kingenta actively builds environment-friendly agriculture through measures such as the research and development of a series of new environmentally friendly fertilizers and the promotion of advanced technologies. In the compound fertilizer industry, Kingenta's production and sales of new fertilizers have ranked first nationwide for 5 consecutive years, among which its national market share of compound fertilizer exceeds 6% and its share of slow and controlled release fertilizer is about 50%, both in the industry's first position. In the research and development of new fertilizers such as water-soluble fertilizers, Kingenta has successively invested heavily to build production bases with a total annual capacity of 500,000 tons of water-soluble fertilizer in Linshu, Shandong, and Weng'an, Guizhou, producing high-end water-soluble fertilizers with independent intellectual property rights. After reaching full production, it will become the largest water-soluble fertilizer production base in the country.
In the promotion of integrated water and fertilizer technology, in order to truly bring water-soluble fertilizer benefits to a hundred million mu of fertile farmland and to millions of farmers, Kingenta Group is gathering forces from all sides to carry out large-scale collaboration and large-scale promotion, bringing integrated water and fertilizer technology into the "last kilometer" of agrochemical promotion services. It selected 600 counties nationwide, establishing a hundred-mu demonstration field in each county, for a total of ten thousand mu of demonstration fields, and giving fertilizer to farmers free of charge so that they can first try and compare its use on their own land and experience the effects of a good product. At the same time, it plans to build 100 agrochemical service centers nationwide within 3 years, with service coverage spanning 14 provinces across 6 regions including East China, South China, Central China, North China, Southwest China and Northwest China. These centers integrate multiple functions such as technical training, soil testing and fertilizer formulation, expert consultation, and agricultural material sales and display. When local farmers encounter technical difficulties, they can consult the agrochemical service centers, and relevant experts will provide "one-stop" solutions for agricultural technical guidance, soil testing and formula fertilization, and fertilization.
According to the introduction, these 100 agrochemical service centers are Kingenta's new engine for moving from product-driven to service-driven development. Relying on the agrochemical service centers and agricultural e-commerce platforms, Kingenta is achieving a brand-new transformation and upgrade from a pure agricultural material manufacturer to a world-leading plant nutrition expert and provider of planting industry solutions.
