Early rice seedling raising progress in South China has reached 73.2%
Early rice seedling raising in South China has reached 73.2% completion According to monitoring by the Ministry of Agriculture, as of March 23, early rice seedling raising was 40.8% complete, with progress flat year-on-year, of which South China had completed 73.2%, Jiangxi had passed 40%, and Hunan, Hubei and Anhui had successively begun early rice seedling raising. It is expected that in early to mid-April, temperatures in most of Jiangnan and South China will be close to or slightly below the same period of normal years, and precipitation will be 20-50% more than the same period of normal years; the water and heat conditions are favourable for early rice sowing, emergence and transplanting. However, on April 2-4 a moderate-intensity cold air process will affect Jiangnan, and the temperature drop will have a certain adverse effect on early rice sowing and seedling raising.
