Late-stage wheat management: focus on the two key passes of disease prevention and harvest
Because the previous rice and cotton crops delayed the clearing of the fields last year, wheat sowing was pushed back, and in addition the suitable sowing period encountered long periods of rain, so the current growth is clearly worse than in previous years. Therefore, in late-stage wheat management, the two key passes of “disease prevention” and “harvest” must be done well:
First, do well the pass of “disease prevention” and prevent yield loss due to disease. At present wheat has entered the jointing and booting stage; because of alternating sunshine and rain, the field humidity is high and the temperature is suitable, which favors the occurrence of wheat sheath blight and fusarium head blight, so control must be carried out. In severely affected fields, apply a second treatment 10 days after the first application. In addition to cleaning ditches for drainage and reducing humidity and waterlogging, chemical control should be carried out. For wheat sheath blight, 20-30ml of 30% difenoconazole · propiconazole can be used per mu, mixed with 30 kg of water for a manual sprayer, or 20 kg of water for a mist sprayer; the key to controlling wheat fusarium head blight is to carry out spraying prevention at the heading and flowering stage. Generally, the first spraying is done from when 10% of wheat has headed to the early flowering stage, and the second application is made at an interval of 5—7 days. Per mu, use 100 grams of 50% carbendazim wettable powder or 50—75 grams of 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder plus 50 kg of water, or 50 grams of diniconazole, or 15-20 grams of 25% tebuconazole plus 30 kg of water for foliar spraying. When spraying, aim mainly at the wheat heads and spray evenly; if it rains after spraying, it is necessary to spray again after the rain.
⟦NL> Second, do well the pass of “harvest” and harvest at the right time. The best harvest period for wheat should be when the wheat grains are all yellow and the grain shape and color are the same as the characteristics of the original variety. If continuous rainy weather occurs, take advantage of clear skies to harvest quickly, to prevent the inability to harvest due to continuous rain, which causes “sprouting on the head” and thus reduces yield and income.
