China Agricultural Outlook Initiative Launched by the Ministry of Agriculture

On April 3, Chen Xiaohua, Chairman of the Market Early Warning Expert Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Vice Minister of Agriculture, invited committee members from relevant departments and bureaus of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, and the State Administration of Grain to jointly review the China Agricultural Outlook Report (2015-2024) together with relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Agriculture, and launch the China agricultural outlook initiative.

The United States has held 92 agricultural outlook conferences since 1923 and releases an agricultural outlook report every year, effectively grasping the discourse power in international agricultural product pricing and the initiative in international trade; Australia has held 44 agricultural outlook conferences since 1971 and releases agricultural outlook reports, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have jointly held 10 agricultural outlook conferences and released agricultural outlook reports since 2005, exerting a profound impact on the global agricultural product market. Convening the China Agricultural Outlook Conference and releasing the China Agricultural Outlook Report is a need for our country to adapt to the development of agricultural marketization, informatization, and internationalization, and is an important measure to innovate agricultural administrative management methods and improve the regulation mechanism of the agricultural product market.
