Spring sowing gets underway in Northeast China, intended grain planting area reaches 384 million mu
At present, land preparation in Northeast China is basically complete, and rice sowing is getting underway. According to agricultural situation monitoring by the Ministry of Agriculture and feedback from Northeast China, agricultural input supplies are sufficient this year, and soil moisture conditions are favorable for spring sowing. The Ministry of Agriculture estimates that the intended grain planting area in Northeast China is 384 million mu, on par with the previous year.
At the same time, various regions are further optimizing the planting structure, reducing corn and wheat planting in non-advantageous areas according to local conditions, and switching to crops such as miscellaneous grains and beans and silage corn.
At present, soil moisture conditions are better than the previous year, which is favorable for sowing at the right moisture level. From April 1 to 3, parts of Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang saw an obvious rainfall process from west to east, and soil moisture conditions improved markedly. As of now, the area of dry, exposed land lacking soil moisture in Northeast China is nearly 20 million mu, a decrease of more than 80 million mu from 107 million mu in the same period last year.
