National Ecological Fertilizer Industry Alliance Seeks Collective Development
Recently, the enlarged meeting of vice chairmen of the National Ecological Fertilizer Industry Alliance was held in Zhengzhou, Henan. Leaders from the China Chemical Enterprise Management Association, the Agrochemical Office of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, the National Fertilizer Quality Inspection Center and other institutions, vice chairmen of the National Ecological Fertilizer Industry Alliance, specially invited council members and industry media units attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the alliance discussed and summarized cooperation in ways such as “ecology, union, service” around the purpose of “developing ecological fertilizers, promoting ecological agriculture, and sharing ecological food.” Various institutions spoke on the immeasurable social and economic value that the implementation of ecological definitions and standards has for the development of ecological fertilizer enterprises and for China's social and environmental development. Lan Sengu, rotating chairman of the alliance and chairman of Shuangying Group, said: in recent years, excessive development of mineral resources for agricultural inputs has caused some regions to face depletion. The mining of phosphate rock in Guizhou alone went from less than 1 million tons in the 1980s to tens of millions of tons today, even several tens of millions of tons. He also said that fertilizer is already seriously oversupplied, but some enterprises still keep building plants and expanding production, causing great waste. The non-renewability of mineral resources, soil acidification and desertification, and insufficient water resources are all consequences of ecological damage. Recently, Shuangying Group and Henan Minfeng Fertilizer established a fertilizer production base in the Central Plains region, precisely to effectively use plant areas, technology and market resources and reduce repeated waste of resources. The 2015 No. 1 Central Document also highlighted actions to reduce pesticide and fertilizer use, achieving zero growth by 2020. The establishment of the alliance is precisely to unite agricultural production input enterprises, pursue collective development through science and technology, agrochemical services and development opinions, research and develop environmentally friendly ecological fertilizer products, and jointly promote the development of the ecological industry in order to provide scientific and meticulous agrochemical services.
Other experts attending the meeting gave special reports on issues urgently needing resolution in the current work of the alliance and the development of the ecological fertilizer industry, including China's soil pollution situation, ecological fertilizer certification, the definition, standards, scope and development direction of ecological fertilizers, and suggestions put forward for the alliance's work based on enterprises' current status and development plans.
