The Ministry of Agriculture Library launches a “Five Ones” series of activities
This website reports April 23 of this year is the 20th “World Book Day.” In order to further create a good atmosphere of “reading • cultivating oneself • building character,” the Ministry of Agriculture Library began launching a “Five Ones” series of activities on April 21, namely recommending one good book, introducing one platform, launching one mobile digital library, holding one book-reading and journal-giving event, and hosting one lecture. It is hoped that these activities will further promote institutional cultural development.
It is understood that the Ministry of Agriculture Library began in 1950 and undertakes functions such as document acquisition and cataloging, circulation, information services, and enriching the cultural life of the institution. For more than 60 years, the library has always adhered to the basic principle of being reader-centered, closely focusing on the central work of the ministry in carrying out all kinds of work, providing the ministry with relatively good document and information resource support, and has become a good place for everyone to increase knowledge, draw nourishment, and enjoy reading and leisure.
Among them, the “recommend one good book” activity invited 13 ministry leaders and 78 department and bureau-level leaders to recommend books for everyone, with sincere reflections attached. The books recommended by leading comrades total 88 volumes, covering multiple categories such as history, literature, and philosophy. During World Book Day, these recommendations will be made into display boards for exhibition. “Introduce one platform” mainly promotes the Legislative Decision-Making Service Platform of the National Library • Ministry of Agriculture Branch. The platform has 8 sections, including the National Library database, Jiuxing Electronic Newspaper (updating nearly 100 kinds of newspapers and periodicals in real time every day), and an e-book library, and can provide effective information reference for leadership decision-making and the work of cadres and staff. “Launch one mobile digital library”: the library purchased Superstar e-book borrowing machines, with 3,000 built-in e-books, updated by 150 volumes each month, allowing readers to enjoy a reading experience unrestricted by time and space. “Hold one book-reading and journal-giving event”: on World Book Day, the library will set up the books recommended by leaders as display bookshelves for everyone to browse, and give readers more than 1,000 volumes of periodicals in more than 60 kinds, including finance, history, geography, literature and art, and photography. “Host one lecture”: it is planned to invite experts and scholars in relevant fields to hold a reading report meeting.
